Meet the cast of Silo season 2 on Apple TV+

The second season continues engineer Juliette’s (Ferguson) search for the truth after she finally stepped foot outside the silo in the dramatic season 1 finale – and discovered something shocking.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com about Juliette's biggest fears in season 2, Ferguson said: "She has to be in a situation now where she's handling human beings, and it's something that she doesn't know how that works.

"You know, she's up against a person [Solo] who you don't know, is a threat, is an absolute lunatic, or is there to support and help."

The cast is filled with plenty of recognisable faces, with actors from Dune, The Social Network, The Shawshank Redemption and more making up the ensemble alongside Ferguson.

Meanwhile, season 2 also introduces the mysterious Solo, played by Steve Zahn.

Rebecca Ferguson plays Juliette

Who is Juliette? Juliette is an engineer and is seeking answers about a loved one's murder. She stumbles into a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don't kill you, the truth will.

Where have I seen Rebecca Ferguson? The Swedish actress has starred in various films such as Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, its sequel Fallout, The Greatest Showman, The Girl on the Train, Dune and also the upcoming Dune sequel.

Remmie Milner plays Shirley

Who is Shirley? A member of the Mechanical department in the silo.

Where have I seen Remmie Milner? Milner is known for her roles in Save Me, His Dark Materials and A Christmas Carol.

Common plays Sims

Who is Sims? Sims is the head of judicial security.

Common told RadioTimes.com: "Sims, I'm loyal to saving the people of the silo and protecting the people of the silo. That's my biggest loyalty, is that, and to my family. And I just think a lot of my decisions are made with people who I believe have that same interest, like Bernard. And this season, you deal with some of the things where we find that resistance with people seeing Juliet go over the hill."

Where have I seen Common? Lonnie Rashid Lynn is known by his stage name Common and is a well-known rapper, as well as an actor and activist. Aside from his music, Common has starred in films such as Now You See Me, Suicide Squad and The Hate U Give.

Tim Robbins plays Bernard

Who is Bernard? Bernard is the head of IT in Silo and may be more power hungry than we initially realise.

Robbins told RadioTimes.com of Bernard's attitude in season 2: "What he has already decided, and it evolves layer by layer, 'I have to do what's necessary for the survival of 10,000 people.'"

Where have I seen Tim Robbins? Robbins is perhaps best known for his role in 1994's The Shawshank Redemption, but has also starred in other classic films like Mystic River, The Player and Top Gun.

Harriet Walter plays Martha Walker

Who is Martha Walker? Martha is close to Juliette and is a former engineer, who is working in mechanical in Silo.

Where have I seen Harriet Walter? Dame Harriet Walter has received countless awards and nominations throughout her career, with film appearances that include Sense and Sensibility and Atonement. She has gone on to star in many acclaimed TV series such as Killing Eve, The Crown, Ted Lasso and Succession.

Steve Zahn plays Solo

Who is Solo? Solo is the only survivor of the uprising in Silo 17. Zahn told RadioTimes.com: "Solo is a good name for the guy. He's been through a lot, and his world stopped at a certain point.

"The things we learn from other people – how we communicate, how we express ourselves, how we show emotion, how we function in society – those things were gone for him. They don't exist. And so he had to develop as a human being with books and pictures and things.

"So it's a really fascinating character to dive into, and then to play opposite this other person [Ferguson as Juliette] who's so different, but they both want something from each other and need something from each other, in that process, it becomes a really interesting relationship."

Where have I seen Steve Zahn? Zahn has appeared in movies like Reality Bites, That Thing You Do!, You've Got Mail, and the Stuart Little film series. He also appeared alongside Drew Barrymore in the film Riding in Cars with Boys, as well as playing investigative journalist Adam Penenberg in Shattered Glass, before taking on the role of Frank Heffley, the father of Greg Heffley, in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series.

Avi Nash plays Lukas Kyle

Who is Lukas Kyle? Lukas works in IT and is a bit of a tech whizz, but also has an interest in astronomy.

Where have I seen Avi Nash? Nash is perhaps best known for his role in The Walking Dead as Siddiq, but has also starred in films like Learning To Drive, Amateur Night and Barry.

Shane McRae plays Knox

Who is Knox? The head of Mechanical in the silo.

Where have I seen Shane McRae? McRae is known for his roles in Sneaky Pete, Paradise Lost and Alaska Daily. He has also starred in The Following, Four Kings and Still Alice.
